The famous co-founder and chief executive of the social media site Facebook is donating money to charities. Not just any amount of money, talk about a worth of $45 billion dollars! Mark Zuckerberg and his wife recently announced that they would be giving away 99% of their Facebook earnings in donations. The remarkable amount is just the highlight of their work with humanity.
According to a New York Times website, “In 2010, Mr. Zuckerberg and Dr.Chan gave $100 million to improve public schools…” Zuckerberg has always made positive contributions to the world due to the success of the social media site. The social media earnings and the birth of a new child led to one of the most crucial decisions of their life. Mr. Zuckerberg and his wife, Dr.Chang, just gave birth to their first child, their newborn daughter Maxima.
The couple wrote a life-changing letter to their daughter explaining why they gave all there money away. The letter enclosed, “Our initial areas of focus will be personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and build strong communities.” The outstanding couple wrote a heartfelt letter to their daughter because they aspire to make the world a better place for her and future generations. Several years ago, “The second biggest piece of Zuckerberg’s donation-$25 million- went to Charter schools in Newark …” He has always been very gracious to schools worldwide, his substantial amount of donations are changing the lives of people everywhere.
A King/Drew High School student said, “Zuckerberg deserves the most recognition of the year.” People are realizing that his donations are going to change people lives forever, his contributions will always be memorable. Another King/Drew student, Crystal Johnson commented, “He is a very considerate person because very few people would do that.” Zuckerberg is a very thoughtful person who loves humanity because many people would have kept their well earned money. It takes a compassionate individual to be concerned about the the world and donate all their life’s savings.
