On January 22nd, 2016 there was a prison break in Orange County. There were three escapees that happened to escape maximum-security. There were more than 5 people arrested in the connection in helping these men break out. This included one of the teachers whom taught the men in the jail. She is known to be one of the men’s main connections. She had only been working there for 6 months an no one suspected her to be the accomplice of this event.
This situation is a great issue. The involvement of many people has made people realize how safe the world around us really is. The escapees all had to saw their way through the thick pieces of the security bars, then go through the prison’s plumbing tunnel to make their way up to the roof. Once they made it up to the roof, they cut through the roof’s wire, and went down using bed sheets.
On Friday, January 29th, one of the three escapees turned himself in by telling a person from the streets he wanted to turn himself in, the escapee was taken into custody. There are many people that did not feel safe with the other two escapees running freely. The reason being that no one knew their motives and what they had planned to do.
A King/Drew student, Tanjanae Walter, was asked what was her opinion of the jail break and answered “It’s crazy how they made their way through the security and were really able to escape jail.”
The last two escapees were captured by San Francisco cops a few days later and sent back to jail . The situation is now resolved and at hand with the higher authority. One of the men were found hiding in a van and the other man was captured after a foot chase. So now that they worked so hard to ensure that the men were locked back up they now have one less thing to worry about. The men have been separated and most likely would not be seeing each other again.
